A word monger, fishing for eloquence,

Casts his tawdry bait

Into the deepening blue bejeweled sea

To hook a constellation of letters

Yet undiscovered by the astrologers -

Those anonymous poets of the sky

Whom astronomy left in ignominy.

Stellar continuity is an anomaly

Like incongruous lines of poetry

Cast in juxtaposition with a wanton verbal device

Deftly shedding the responsibility of coherence.

A star gazer, in his observant lunacy,

Clings to his humanity

Like an insane defendant

Insisting on his culpability, [guilt]

For the sake of redemptive suffering.

Metathetical reverses of fortune

Cloud the skies, scour the lies

Of duplicitous words to an unbearable glimmer.

Silver linings turn out to be aluminum,

And the hot haggling winds

Inspire used plastic bags

From the shadows of scurrying vermin –

Mesmerizing shades cast by the curdled sun.

The patience of silent disenchantment

Stirs the dinghy with rod perched towards the sky,

In a glistening desert lake,

Oblivious to the enchanted surroundings of the night.
